Palm Sunday C3SB

Hosanna!

John 12:12-13 (the Message)
“The next day the huge crowd that had arrived for the Feast heard that Jesus was entering Jerusalem. They broke off palm branches and went out to meet him. And they cheered:
Hosanna!
Blessed is he who comes in God’s name!
Yes! The King of Israel!”

Hosanna means “save us!”, but it’s also a kind of word that means praise God.

It’s kind of like saying ‘our saviour is here! Save us! We know you are going to save us!’. There’s a lot to un-package in that one word.

The people of Jerusalem wanted Jesus to save them from the Roman occupation.

But His plan was bigger!

A few days later, they were so upset that they joined in with the priests and cried out to kill Him. They didn’t understand His bigger plan!

He is our saviour. Sometimes from the Romans but always from ourselves.

He saves us from our own sin, for eternity!

God bless,
Glenn

Announcements

Good Friday – 9am here at the church

A reflective kind of service.
Resurrection Sunday will be the same time as normal Sundays.

Flyers and Social Media

We will be handing out a bunch of flyers for Easter. Please see Ian (Radar) for more info on flyer drops to help out and look out for social media to share.
This is one of the best opportunities all year to connect with our community, so please let your friends and family know our service times and be here to connect with visitors, pray for them and be blessed as we celebrate our King together.

School Holidays

So we are on school holidays. Some ministries take a break during the school holidays so check with your leader to know if it’s on or not.

We would also love to some volunteers at ‘the rock’ over the holidays. See Beth or me (Glenn).

Prayer

Pray that we effectively reach out and connect and bless our community this Easter, through our services and the Rock.
Pray for speedy recovering for those that are unwell.
Pray for favour, for each of us and collectively as a church.
